meet chris…

Chris Muntz is a lifelong Delawarean, proud husband and father, and a committed advocate for working families across New Castle County. He currently serves as Business Manager of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 74, where he works every day to expand apprenticeship opportunities, strengthen the local workforce, and ensure major development projects employ skilled Delaware labor. Chris focuses on practical solutions that create good-paying jobs, build durable careers, and keep economic opportunity within our communities.

Chris’s passion for working people began in high school. As a 1999 graduate of the Hodgson Vo-Tech plumbing program, he learned the technical skills and work ethic necessary to enter Local Union 74’s apprenticeship program. Throughout his career, Chris has connected residents to family-sustaining careers, partnered with schools and colleges to grow vocational-technical training, and collaborated with contractors and developers on projects that promote long-term economic growth and community stability. He brings hands-on experience negotiating workforce agreements, developing training pipelines, and advocating for policies that support tradespeople and their families.

He understands the challenges facing working families today—housing affordability, infrastructure strain, safe neighborhoods and schools, and the need for smarter, sustainable planning as the county expands. Chris is running for County Council in District 6 to champion responsible development, strengthen the local economy, and keep New Castle County a place where young people can build their futures and seniors can age with dignity. He believes development should benefit residents, not just developers, and that job creation must include real career pathways that allow Delawareans to thrive.

our daily bread

One of Chris’s favorite ways to give back to our community is partnering with the Appoquinimink Men’s Lacrosse team and their long-standing, selfless tradition of volunteering at Our Daily Bread. It’s genuinely heartwarming to watch our young athletes generously pour their time and care into the lives of others, making a meaningful difference for neighbors in need.

appoquinimink theater

Volunteering with the Appoquinimink High School Theater Program turned into a deep passion for Chris. Whether it was a weekend “set build Saturday” or an intense rehearsal for the Appo “Flight Squad,” Chris grew to appreciate just how much time, effort, and heartfelt dedication went into each and every performance.
